They report that they have obtained “guarantees to continue the activity that takes place for several years”. With the withdrawal of the hearing on 1 December and the conclusion of the agreement in favour of the Socialist Centre in San Sebastian, the Socialist Council has obtained assurances that it will continue its work.
On 23 November the Socialist Council of San Sebastian reported on Sukia’s willingness to evict the Socialist Centre. Since then, they started a struggle to suspend the complaint and sit the two sides at a table. There were many gestures of solidarity that were gestated by the center at different points in the Basque Country. During these weeks, the Socialist Center has been supported by dozens of teenagers and spaces.
On November 28, more than a hundred people met at Sukia’s headquarters in Donostia, “inviting the company to send a letter and negotiate, as well as to demand the cancellation of the complaint against the center.”
Having overcome the judicial procedure against the Socialist Center located on Mundaiz Street and “with guarantees for the coming years”, the Socialist Council of San Sebastian has organized a comprehensive programme in December.
On the 15th, with Gordegia, there will be a photographic exhibition and a magic show of Iagomago, ending the day with monologues. The guide against evictions from the Housing Union will be presented on the 20th. On December 26, after a talk with Ramón Agirre, Harkaitz Cano will present the latest book entitled Ulu egiteko bolondon bila, and end with a bertsos dinner. By the end of the programme, there will be a sports show and concerts at the Socialist Centre on 23 December.
