On Monday, 23 MEPs sent a letter to the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, expressing their support for the Freedom Flotilla that was attacked by Israel last Friday morning, and calling on the European Union to intervene in the matter beyond condemning what happened. "The European Union must respond, denounce Israel's impunity, and end the genocide that is taking place in Gaza," the statement said.
Last Friday was an event for which the European Union was responsible, according to the signatories of the letter, because it took place near the waters of a country in the Union (Malta), in international waters. "In such cases, the states of the union must necessarily take a stand and raise their voices." If this is not done, the European Union "accepts" the actions against the humanitarian workers, activists and citizens of its Member States.
Among the 23 MEPs who signed up for the four parliamentary groups is EH Bila Pernando Barrena. It has also been signed by the representative of the Galician BNG, as well as by the ERC and Compromiso of the Catalan Countries and Sinn Fein of Ireland. The petition is signed by members of the Spanish PSOE, Podemos and Sumar, and by the Ecologist and Insumiso of France.
More places to stay in Gorka Elejabarrieta: "All the red lines are being surpassed"
Speaking in the Spanish Senate, Gorka Elejabarrieta, Secretary of Foreign Relations of EH Bila, referred in his speech to the attack suffered by the Freedom Flotilla.
"No one is capable of not talking about genocide," he said. He denounces that "all the red lines have been overcome" and that "the worst thing" is that no one has been able to stop the genocide, even if it continues. "We have now seen with our own eyes that Israeli drones in international waters near Malta have attacked international activists, including Basque activist Mikel Zuluaga."
Dehumanization has penetrated deeply into the powers of the West, and they look with indifference to the holocaust that Gaza is suffering; in Gaza, if bombs do not kill you, you will die of hunger.
Now that our ship has been bombed it is a total impotence, we are well and we... [+]
