Berria has announced that the National Court has sentenced Ezeiza to 182 years after the approval of the prisoners’ agreement with the prosecutor’s office, in relation to the attacks perpetrated by ETA in 2003 in Alicante and Benidorm. The Public Prosecutor ' s Office initially demanded 268 years for Hernani ' s prisoner, which would be 182 with the agreement, but not more than twenty years later.
Wednesday is the third time the National Court has tried Ezeiza for the same facts. In the past, the court was acquitted, but the Supreme Court annulled the judgments on the grounds that Ezeiza’s “collaboration” in the attacks had not been adequately studied.
Since 2008 in prison
Ezeiza has been in custody in France for twelve years after being arrested on charges of belonging to ETA in 2008. He was released in May 2020, but was re-admitted to Spain the same month, as the National Court had two court proceedings open against him. Accused of participating in the murder of the PSE councillor of Orio, Juan Priede, was sentenced to nineteen years in prison, and today the second sentence relating to the attacks in the Catalan countries has been known.
