A columnist for the Kurdish newspaper 'Özgür Gündem' imprisoned
  • Aslı Erdogan, a member of the Editorial Board and columnist, was arrested in the raid following the closure of the newspaper on August 16, along with 24 other journalists. He was kept for three days by the police and was imprisoned on 19 August.

Erdogan was taken to the hospital while he was unwell on 18 August, according to information received by his lawyers from the prosecutor ' s office. He was treated there and returned to the police station.

Police continued to interrogate 22 journalists from the newspaper who were released that day, but Bilir Kaya, editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Inan Kızılkaya, and Aslı Erdogan himself, in the anti-terrorist unit of the security directorate in the province of Istanbul.
