Metro works force two buildings to be evicted in San Sebastian
  • In the centre of Donostia-San Sebastian, the four-star hotel is located on Zubieta Street and next to it the gym called Hegalak and another building have been evicted due to a "water leak", Sos Deiak said. The works of the controversial metro are running down there. At first, Councillor Nekane Arzallus denied that the event was related to the works of the metro.

The shedding of water has caused a detachment in the basement of the building and the neighbors have alerted the fire fighters after the noise they have heard. In the early morning, the neighbours have been evicted from their homes.

The works of the Donostia-San Sebastian metro station are being carried out in the vicinity of the hotel and the technicians are analysing whether the detachment is related to the works, as reported by the Satorralaia initiative. From the first hours of the afternoon, Zubieta Street and part of the Paseo de la Concha have remained cut into traffic.

Wednesday water jump in the works

On Wednesday there was a waterfall in the works of the Donostia-San Sebastián Metro during the tunnel drilling work. According to the workers of the works, they have found an unforeseen geological failure in the surroundings of the center Perla and the water has reached them above the knee. Due to the event, the tunnel direction could be affected by the displacement of the crane.

Also ground jumps

It is not the first major problem this project has had. Last November, for example, there was a landslide on the construction site in the Old Quarter, which in turn caused a gas leak. According to the residents, the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastian did not take into account the "precarious" situation of the hillside when undertaking the works of the metro.
