In statements to LA on Thursday, the member of the Movement for Sovereignty BAM, José Javier Oses "Jotas", stressed that the meetings would be the "first seed" that the movement would put, and this has been confirmed: a large number of people attended Tafalla on Saturday, starting with the fair of all kinds of products and with talks on a wide range of topics in the program throughout the day. Regarding the valuation of the day, Itziar Moreno, member of the BAM, highlighted that "a beautiful atmosphere" prevailed in all the events that were organized, reaching "interesting conclusions" to re-network the relations between the...
According to Moreno, however, the movement has not “started from scratch”: "the popular movements have been playing an important role in the Basque Country for years, and the meetings have served to strengthen the relations between them". In fact, Saturday was the first edition of the day organized by the Movement for Sovereignty, but Moreno has already announced that the participants have committed themselves to reorganising it the following year, given the seeds sown by this year. BAM is an association formed by members of popular movements from different areas that, according to Oses, will serve to strengthen the relationship between eleven projects that are launched in the Basque Country: "We miss this collective feeling among associations in different areas of the Basque Country, where mutual ignorance and lack of knowledge prevail."
The meetings included not only the participation of the popular movements of the Basque Country, but also of several international ones, in the conference on the "effectiveness of disobedience" that took place after lunch: It was attended by the CDR of Catalonia, the Marinaleta and SAT of Andalusia, and the Collectif contre l'A69 of Toulouse (Occitania). In addition, with the support of several members from Argentina, the Philippines, Cuba, Andalusia and Venezuela, among others, they also worked in the afternoon on sovereignty, popular power and common democracy.
