Vicenta Juaristi Eguino was born in La Paz, Bolivia. Criollo, born in a wealthy family, gave all his assets to the Spanish revolution. Governor Ricafort's men incarcerated and sentenced him to death, even though citizen pressure condoned him the penalty. Considered a hero in the Latin American liberating movement, Ursula Goyzueta and Simona Manzaneda are, along with her, symbols against colonial oppression in the collective imaginary of La Paz.
