Willendorfeko venusa

In 1908, 100 years ago, Josef Szombathy discovered the small statue photographed at a Paleolithic site near Willendorf, Austria. The well-known limestone venus measures only eleven centimeters and represents a female. Since then, much has been speculated about what the authors wanted to express: the goddess of fertility, the mother earth, the woman of high status... But we still don't know what intent they did it with. We only have technical data: It is about 25,000 years old and the limestone from which the piece was made is not present in these areas, which adds to the mystery of the origin of the venus.
