Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in Manchester on 22 May 1959. Young Morrissey was the ideal person for Johnny Marr's melodies. His words and his deformed, dark and hurtful voice merged beautifully with Mar’s music. They co-founded The Smiths in the 1980s, an unforgettable band that exposed the pride of the world’s humble proletarians. Working on the path of independent pop, The Smiths sought to make it understood that the most marginalized sources of English literature – such as Oscar Wilde, Shelagh Delaney or Edith Sewell – were also the heritage of the most humble inhabitants, until the members of the group were separated forever. Morrissey is currently on his own in music, deepening his mystery with every word he writes.
