Le Courier, from Vietnam, was in charge of receiving the news. On 18 March, the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Prime Minister Nguyên Xuân Phuc, discussed, through a videoconference, the conclusions of the last ten years of the project “National Food Security until 2020”. The Prime Minister insisted that Vietnam, in the face of any eventuality, should ensure food security for the citizens of the region. Since 24 March, customs in municipalities and provinces have been ordered not to let rice go and have also taken measures to combat smuggling.

Between January and February 2020, rice exports in the Asian country have increased considerably, while exports of other food have decreased. In the two months, Vietnam exported 811,000 tons of rice to a value of $372 million.
