Olive trees in Palestine against the Israeli occupation
  • Palestinian farmers and volunteers have planted olive trees after Israel ordered the confiscation of more land in the West Bank. Israel’s military order has forced them to abandon three privately owned dunams of land – 3,000 square meters – for “security reasons.”

The land confiscated by the Israeli army is located near the Yitzhar Israeli settler camp in Asira Al-Qibliya in the West Bank. Yitzhar is one of the most radical camps in the West Bank, home to the Od Yosef Chai. The New York Times defines them as “radical bastions.” Local settlers are often known for colliding with Palestinian civilians and the Israeli army. This group advocates attacks on Palestinians to put pressure on the Israeli government’s policies in the occupied territories.

The order was issued on January 12 and there is currently a watchtower on the site. The army, made up of 50 Palestinians, tried to cultivate the land and prevent the planting of olive trees, but they managed to plant 30 trees before they were expelled.
