As was foreseeable, the mayor, Enrique Maia, will reject the changes made by the council in the children's schools of Pamplona in the previous legislature and will reduce the Basque offer in them. Since 2016, the option was offered in Basque in four children's schools: In Donibane, in the Wall of the Prince of Arrosadia, in the Beautiful Mornings of the Rochapea and in the Izartegi de la Txantrea. Before, however, this model was only offered by two children's schools, both located in the Txantrea.
Well, Enrique Maia wanted to go back and in the coming courses, both at the Children's School of Donibane and in the Wall of the Prince, the Basque model will be removed and the Spanish will be reintroduced. In Goiz Eder, for its part, half of the seats will be abolished and the Spanish and English seats will be established.
Maia described as "injustice" the model of EH Bildu established in the last legislature and pointed out that with these changes "normality" will be returned to children's schools in Pamplona/Iruña.
The change will be carried out progressively: for the next course, the Spanish places of the children's schools of Donibane and Printzearen Harresi and those of Ederko Mornings in Spanish and English will be established in the groups of children who join the center. The Basque model will be maintained in the groups that exist from previous years until these children leave the center.
Thus, the process will take place for the course 2022-2023, and then yes, only in Izartegi de la Txantrea will the model be offered in Euskera, and in Goiz Eder will offer half of the seats that they currently have.
For the adoption of this agreement, the Mayor has based himself on several legal judgments. In fact, when the supply of children's schools was changed in 2016, some parents resorted to it and the sentences were right. However, the real demand for a decision on the event has not been taken into account. Maia has reported that work is being done on a demand study, which will be taken into account for the next course.
In any case, it should be noted that in 2017, at the request of the City of Pamplona, a sociological study was carried out to measure the demand of children's schools, which showed that the supply in Basque was smaller than the number of parents who would choose this model, and that, at the same time, with Spanish, the English model was larger than the number of parents they preferred.
