After seven years of filming short films at different points in Euskal Herria, Oñati's LPM team will present the film LOPE this weekend. In order to carry out the longest work ever carried out as a group and which has lasted for a year, it has been necessary to collaborate with 70 actors and 20 local technicians.
The film narrates the return to Oñati of the popular conqueror Lope Agirre, his compatriot, to regain the independence of the people on the eve of the municipal elections of 2019. To do so, the program will remember the adventures of Lope in the 1561 El Dorado expedition and the letter he wrote to the king of Spain, Felipe URL0.
According to colleagues in the group, they have tried to make a story funny, spicy and uncensored, and have stated that, based on a real historical episode, they have pulled out "a crazy fiction movie."
Except for Lope, all the other characters are asthmatic and have counted with the Gaztetxe de Oñati as “recording center”, as most of the internal sequences have been carried out there.
