At the press conference of spokesmen of the Navarre Parliament on 5 November, two issues were highlighted: The floods in Valencia and the new measures announced by the counselor of Housing, Youth and Migration Policies, Begoña Alfaro. In order to reduce housing prices, the Foral Government will declare 21 locations such as Pamplona, Tudela, Estella, Tafalla, Corella, Noáin, Cintruénigo, Baztan or Alsasua as areas of high tension. They account for 68.3% of the total population.
All the spokesmen of the Basque Parliament have started their speech by reminding the inhabitants of Valencia and their immediate surroundings. Unless UPN, pp and Vox applaud the visit of the kings of Spain and criticize Pedro Sánchez, the messages of the political groups have not been characterized by putting the consequences of flooding and solidarity before the search for culprits. “We will have time for it later,” said Javier García of the PP.
With regard to housing measures, Garcia strongly criticized the Government of Navarre: “Once again, a new law is being developed in a clandestine manner. It is very exhausting to ask for explanations every week, because the political groups in Parliament do not inform us of anything. The lack of transparency of this Government has again been highlighted.” For his part, Javier Esparza of UPN has not referred to this issue and Maite Nosti of Vox has expressed his “concern about the impact of tension areas on local demand”.
EH Bildu has done a very different reading. Laura Aznal has described the news as “very good” and “you have to take it with joy”. In fact, “long ago” they were “asking for this measure”. The spokesman stressed that the measure could benefit proportionally more inhabitants than in any other autonomous community of the State.
Even so, Begoña Alfaro has pointed out that the municipalities mentioned are the largest and Aznal has asked not to forget "the rural area". For its part, EH Bildu will demand in exchange for supporting the 2025 budgets “the commitment to revitalize rural housing that is empty”. Collaboration between the government and the municipalities, which are the ones with the urban competence, will be essential for this.
This same collaboration has been mentioned by Carlos Guzmán de Vaca Zurekin, who has also included the “private sector” as the price manager in this equation. Finally, Pablo Azcona, of Geroa Bai, said that “housing is a good measure to guarantee universal right and not to turn it into a business” and that “it goes in line with government policies”.

The disaster caused by the cold drop in Valencia has left us dramatic images, both because of the immediate consequences it has had, and because the future awaiting us has brought us forward: that this type of extreme climate phenomena will be increasingly numerous and serious... [+]
The housing problem is a structural problem that comes from far away. What should be a human right is nothing more than a subjective right. I say that it is a fraud because, although all the institutions and all the political parties say nice words, they do not grasp the... [+]
