Another year, Monday 8 July will be remembered with the monolith dedicated to Germán Rodríguez. It will be at 13:00 hours: the aurresku, first, the bertsos of Mikel Lasarte and then the performances of La Furia and Fermin Balentzia. At dusk, the Peñas will leave the bullring in silence and with banners and a tribute will be paid to him in the monolith of Roncesvalles Street.
It is 46 years since the murder of Germán Rodríguez at the hands of a police shot in the city centre. It was in the bullring on July 8, 1978. Since then, the Locals and the Sanferminak 78 gogogoan platform have called for truth, justice and reparation for the victims who led the police clashes in the bullring.
This year too, on Monday, July 8, Germán will be remembered, next to the tombstone in his honour, in Plaza Nueva. The Aurresku de Honor will take place at noon, and will feature the bertsos of Mikel Lasarte and the performances of La Furia and Fermin Balentzia. At dusk, the Peñas will leave the bullring in silence and with the banners gathered, to pay tribute to the monument to Roncesvalles Street. The Youth Movement of the Old Town will also participate in the tribute of 8 July: "If memory is to be alive, it is essential to keep remembering the events of 78," said Jon Julen Wenddling, a member of the Youth Movement of the Old Part of Donostia.
The sanfermines of 78 are still eager from the Gogoan platform, claiming truth, recognition and reparation. And you also recalled the motion that was adopted in the Parliament of Navarre.
