The work, which will last for a total of 42 months, as reported by the City Hall, will continue to operate at all times, as the works will be carried out in several phases. On the right road, from November onwards a new provisional pedestrian crossing will be built that passes above the station and connects the French promenade with the dwellings of Plaza Blas de Otero. This step will have lifts to ensure accessibility and replace the existing one. The current crossing over the station, as well as the crossing under the tracks of Egia, will remain open until the other is built, which will be closed and dismantled as of spring 2021.

Once the work is completed, an interim station will be built with access from Nestor Basterretxea Square. In other words, this station will be located in the area of Egia and is expected to be operational in early 2022.

The new terminal to be built will have an area of 7,400 square meters.
