The actress Charlotte Arnould filed her first complaint against the renowned actress Gerard Depardieu in August 2018, explaining that the man had sexually assaulted her twice. Arguing that there was not enough evidence, however, the prosecution closed the case in 2019, but since then about twenty women have reported having been sexually assaulted by Depardieu. For example, two women denounced that in 2021 they were assaulted during the filming of Les volets verts, in which the actress began to be prosecuted for sexual assaults in late March. Well, on Tuesday came the decision of this litigation, in which the judge found the actor guilty and sentenced him to 18 months in prison.
Depardieu’s defense wanted him acquitted, claiming he was a “victim of false accusations.” In fact, the actor has so far denied all the accusations against him and has not gone to court to know the sentence against him: he is currently in the Azore Islands (Portugal), recording a film by director Fanny Ardant. In fact, Ardant has been one of the French personalities who have supported the actor, as President Emmanuel Macron denounced in a television program that they were doing a "men's hunt" against Depardieu.
