NATO launches bombing of Yugoslavia

NATO began bombing Yugoslavia. It caused 2,500 deaths. 78 days, Belgrade, Novi Sad and Montenegro were systematically bombed with 400 aircraft and missiles launched from the sea. Clinton justified the aggression by saying that it was necessary to maintain a “free, peaceful and stable Europe”.

The bombing that began without UN approval is considered by many as a war crime.
