The mekara Iran Air plane was shot down by the United States with 290 passengers killed. It happened at the end of the war between Iraq and Iran, also called the oil war, when it tried to obstruct oil exports from other countries. The US warship USS Vincennes was the one that shot the Airbus A300 in Iran. Consequently, Iraq and Iran accepted the UN resolution and encouraged them to sign the Armistice.
