It was a maritime battle in Cabo Matxitxako between the Franco army and the warriors. The Francoist Canaries’ cruise attacked the armed fishing vessels of Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia, Nabarra and San Sebastian who were escorting the Galdames vessel with arms shipments to the Basque Government. The toughest struggle was starred by Nabarra, who fought until the sinking. Some warriors, like the first officer Ambrosio Sarasola, preferred to fight and sink into the boat. I pardon the survivors for their proven courage.
