In Cuba an attempt was made to invade Girón beach against Castro organized by the U.S. agency CIA. A small island won the world's largest military empire. About 1,500 Cuban emigrants tried to end the Cuban Revolution. The failure brought Cuba closer to the USSR's orbit of influence. A hundred invaders died and nearly 1,200 were captured. The United States had to send for its prisoners a boat full of drugs.
