The fronton Euskal Jai of Pamplona was converted by the Francoists into a prison. On 7 May 1994, following a demonstration organized by the Young Assembly of Pamplona, thousands of people occupied the fronton to become gaztetxe. In 2004 Yolanda Barcina shot down the gaztetxe Euskal Jai after an intense exercise of resistance.
