Etarra Iñaki Iparragirre and civil guard Jerónimo Vera died in a shooting in Pasaia. Iparraguirre had an appointment with a recently detained militant at a bar in Pasaia. Tortured by the Civil Guard, he was informed of the appointment and waited at the bar. Although the official Franco version sold the clash between two policemen and an ethicist, critical voices denounced the ambush prepared by the civil guards. When Iparraguirre arrived, they shot him in the back, and ETA replied from the ground and declared that he had killed a civilian guard.
