Hawaiians killed colonizer James Cook when the British tried to kidnap the leader of the island of Kalaniopu’u. The day before, a group of Hawaiian citizens stole a British boat and as punishment Cook kidnapped the leader. Thus began the riots and Cook's men, after the death of several Hawaiians, fled. The people managed to capture Cook and killed the important figure of English imperialism.
