Opening of the human zoo in Marseille, within the program of the Colonial Exhibition. The aim of this exhibition was to show the French the characteristics of their colonies. To do so, they forced the inhabitants of the colonies and gave a stereotyped and despicable image. They were often discovered in cages and semi-naked. These racist human zoos were common among the European colonial powers. The latter took place in Brussels in 1958.
