Activist Gonzalo Arias is arrested for carrying posters calling for elections in Franco

Under Franco, activist Gonzalo Arias was arrested for wearing on the lapel and on the back the posters asking for the elections. He was sentenced to seven months in prison. Upon leaving prison, he returned to do so and was then admitted to the psychiatric ward. Inspired by the nonviolence activists he met when he lived in France, consciousness got into the movement of objections. Even when Felipe González was president, he went out every day with a sign that said: “Felipe González, we appreciate the work done, but he resigns at once.”
