The neighbors of the Roman district of San Basilio rose up

The neighbors of the Roman district of San Basilio rose up. The stimulus of the popular uprising was the shooting death of a young man by the police. San Basilio was a working-class neighborhood of high mobilization. The regulations for the allocation of housing in 1973 modified municipalities and affected neighbors, so families began to occupy empty houses. On 5 September 1974, when the police moved to evict the neighbours, major incidents began and moved around the city to protect the resistance of the neighbours. The rebellion put the problem of housing in the center and the city council had to approve the occupations carried out before September 8.
