Ecological disaster in Switzerland when 30 tonnes of pesticides, pesticides, dyes and mercury were poured into the Rhine river as a result of the fire of a chemical plant. 1350 tons of chemicals burned and leaked with extinction water and discharged into the river. The response from the authorities was inadequate and pollution spread along the river to 500 km, with 150,000 Angilas and 500,000 dead fish. It was one of the most serious ecological disasters on the continent of Europe.
