Denmark Norway became the first European country to effectively ban the slave trade. It highlights the role of the Basques in the slave trade, such as Pedro Juan Zulueta, the Royal Havana Company or the prestigious Guipuzkoan Company of Caracas, which for years dedicated itself to this dark need. As both a slave and an investor, many Basques were enriched with this business.
