George Stinney, an innocent 14-year-old, is killed in the U.S. electric chair.

George Stinney, a 14-year-old African-American boy, was killed in the electric chair in South Carolina. He was the youngest person on death row. Two white girls were charged with murder, even though they said they were innocent. Because the chair was too big for the child, they had to sit on a Bible to electrocute. An investigation later proved his innocence.
