The Indian American Movement occupied the government's Office of Indian Affairs in Washington. In that year ' s presidential campaign a march was made to the capital to reclaim the sovereignty of peoples. In the Office of Indian Affairs, meeting with the chiefs, 500 members occupied the building when the guards wanted to be expelled.
