Abrupt closure of the grant window for energy-saving construction works in homes. Imagine the anger of those left in the queue. Architects, builders, community managers, neighbours… The call for proposals was in force until November, but recently the Basque Government announced that the European fund portfolio has been exhausted, which has already been distributed EUR 130 million for the Basque Autonomous Community. Those affected are meeting and denouncing that it is not possible to abandon the programme without giving another alternative. They say that it will take at least twice as much money to make proposals as those that have been queued. They explain that the much-promoted energy saving initiative of buildings has created a culture of citizenship, and that the interruption of subsidies can do tremendous damage to the path that has been taken and worked on, with the economic consequences that it will bring.

Next Generation funds are having a strong impact on the construction sector, especially in the area of restoration. It is not easy to enroll in these funds, so many architects have received courses to correctly complete the forms and the application. It is/will be a great source of revenue for architects, among others. We have an obsolete housing stock and the demands for contemporary energy savings require great construction. These adjustments represent a significant investment, but through subsidies they have been encouraged to start the process. The savings and climate comfort of the energy bill from the constructive adaptations have become widespread.

The on-line setting of subsidies requires important previous architectural work, and if the window is not opened it will do nothing. The Colegio de Arquitectos aims to quantify in money the economic impact that suspension can have on the collective.
