Green energy?
Iñaki Barcena 2022ko martxoaren 24a

What is the color of the energy? Why name green energy? The dictionary says that energy is the ability of a system to work, and that doesn't have color. But we color the energy according to the original source. We call black or gray what you get from fossil resources -- coal, oil, gas. Pink hydrogen is the derivative of uranium and yellow hydrogen that we get from mixed sources (fossils and renewables). And it would be green from renewable resources. The anger of the public is understandable when the European Union (EU) in 2021 declared gas and nuclear energy as green on a transitional basis. What a trick!

"Not only European governments, but also energy corporations urgently seek green energies
to maintain the energy business"

Energy paradox. France does not want to give up nuclear power and Germany is too dependent on Russian gas. The two major EU leaders/motors have imposed this "greenery" to breathe on the road to the energy transition. And to sell smoke! This surprising paradox places Europe in the face of the shameful mirror of its energy system: on the one hand climate and on the other hand dependence on fossil fuels from authoritarian petro-states. The EU remains Russia’s largest energy customer, with about 46% of the EU’s natural gas and 25% of the Russian Federation’s oil in 2021. And above the green retolica we should not forget: The EU has increased its gas imports from 25% to 40% over the last ten years.

The projects that are growing in nuclear power in Eastern Europe, such as Bulgaria and Hungary, and the nuclear uranium market are under the control of Russia. The tensions experienced around nuclear power stations following the Ukrainian invasion do not bring good news, that is, nuclear cannot be a future source of energy.

Now hurried. Not only European governments, but also energy corporations are urgently seeking green energies to maintain the energy business. The International Energy Agency estimates that by 2025 oil extraction will be reduced to 20% at best, which has not been seen in II. Since the World War. According to Antonio Turiel, the problem with the current energy transition model is that you want to fossilize living energy, renewable energies, the energy that follows the rhythms of nature and is scattered throughout the territory, in a concentrated energy that follows the rhythms of the capitalist market. And on that road, the only green is the dollar.
