I am an animal | Nido | Lagunarte, 2021.

Our past is a great gold. And the great gold of our present. The trio of string from Baja Navarra and Lapurdi plays with advantage, because the gold of our past is kept alive in the jungles, in the jurors, in the singers.

The Nest, conceived to “house humanity in its great interiority”, through its strands makes a thread between tradition and modern forms. But no, not by self-text or by synthesizers. Amaia Hiriarte, Maia Iribarn and Elena Haira have devised a shining new universe through the cello, the arrabit and the viola, under the direction of Kristof Hiriart.

Experimenting with the rope in So, with the voices of Les veilleuses. The full disc is a hypnotic journey drunk from the source of harmony and rich rhythm. Because the water from old sources, as you know, is infinite, because it's always new.

I got the melody from the song Urre Handia. It answers the question of a fantasy film with the peculiar hue of the beasts. In Txoriñoa Kaiolan, in a delicate adaptation, the ambiguity between a lower and higher tone in the pizzicato opens up all the possibilities of freedom: “Because, because, if freedom is beautiful of the feet.”

Because we are not aware of how many freedoms we are losing with the loss of melodies from our forests. We can bring here the words of Ion Celestino in Berria, no matter when he reads this: that Basque music is not characterized by language, it has more by tuning, by rhythm... and all of it from his freedom.

That wealth must be accommodated. Not as folklore – monotonous and repetitive copy – but as an innovative view of tradition. Because besides being Km0, it's beautiful, rich and unlimited.

It contains almost everything a disk should have. A job to persevere in time and to proudly say that we were contemporary. Another question is who will take care of you, who will breathe deeply into it. In the meantime, let us try to recover lost time.
