For humor to have a sense of humor, it takes a shared view of the world of the emitter and the receiver. One small thing defined by another. We do not know. We are not women. We are not farmers. Non-homosexual. Not gypsies. And knowing that there is no neutral humor, that laughs both in context and in the other, humor will be subversive or in favor of the status quo, oppressor or liberator.
But let us not fool ourselves. Blacks will have jokes about whites, but you can't say that those jokes are racist, because they don't have behind a history of centuries of structural oppression. Another thing is that a white guy who's in a group of blacks can feel uncomfortable between the algae of laughter behind those jokes. Humor has that, comrade.
But oppression relations also cross. Between the local and the coming. Between the worker and the superior. And that's where the question starts to get complicated. That's where the discussion could fit in.
But why make the salsa so thin? Power decides that a certain mood is insulting to some and therefore unacceptable to all. He has taken the game of plurality and coexistence and now it is up to him to ask for forgiveness from those who deserve it.
We have only to refine humor.
