Like the disc, the video clip died too?

It is more alive than ever, because the new media needs short audiovisual pieces. What's missing is the record company's funding.

You made video clips with songs that later sold millions of copies. Did they pay you accordingly?

Not at all. The SGAE says that the royalties go to the author of the song. You might even recognize the director of the clip, but since it involves a complicated exchange of rights, it is never done. It's just unfair.

Your last clip (Links, Rafa Rueda) has received 2,728 views on You Tube!

We come from an eccentric period, where enormous sums of money were wasted on works that could hardly be seen by the public... But the time we live in now is even more extravagant, because thanks to the Internet it is free and easy to see anything, the problem is that nobody puts money for financing.

Since entering the fifth decade, how are the friends of Sinister Total doing?

The last few times is to look at the classics. They have had more “bowling” on the 25th anniversary of the band than in the previous fifteen years! You have to admit, though, that the dressing room door won't open until half an hour after the concert... Because they need all the air for themselves!

If I were to say something that is not Basque... I would mention the Galician retract.

I totally agree. On the other hand, we love food and drink equally, as well as to approach the world of creation with a “proletarian style”. This is how we balance our different natures.

In the world of artists, it is accepted that being “someone’s child” is beneficial rather than harmful... Have you ever taken advantage of being “the nephew of who you are”?

I used to play jubenillos in Getxo and my uncle came to see me once. When I squandered the second ball he told me I didn’t deserve his help and I was absolutely right. I’ve always had a good or bad feeling because people mix everything up.

What do you love the least about being a member of the Pásalo meeting?

I can't see myself.

You directed the documentaries “How it was made...” from the opening films of Alex de la Iglesia (Acción Mutante and El Día de la Bestia), about fifteen years ago. Now I would love to see a “How it was made...” a “How it was made”... about them!

These “how it was done” must be discreet recordings, which is why they don’t look very visible. You’d love to see a documentary with images that are out of the movies. Because a lot of juicy images are left out of the movies... if they seem “inappropriate” to the director, producer, press officer or someone passing by for the promotion of the film.

When do you announce the disappearance of the DVD?

We have the following in stores: The Blu-ray. I assume that in two years’ time – at the most – he will be in charge of premieres. It’s hard to know how long the DVD will last. How do I advertise after watching DVDs being given away for sale? We have incredible TV screens to watch football players get smashed and we watch movies on the Internet with a quality more extravagant than the super-octave.
