To repeat here the enumeration of the last prisoners would be a lazy task. See, for example, the recently published lists by Gara (2008-II-18; 1-2-3-4-5 pages. ).
Arnaldo Otegi was arrested on 8 June last year. And Juan Mari Olano followed him: September 10th.
From there, the raid was speeded up. My son Joseba was taken from home on October 2. Two days later Joseba Permach, Rufi Etxeberria, Ibon Arbulu, Juan Joxe Petriko, Ana Lizarralde and others followed him.
On November 30 it was the turn of Jabier Salutregi, Elena Beloki, Mikel Egibar, Iñaki O’Shea, Xabier Alegría. José Luis Elkoro was also arrested in Bergara on December 5 and Marije Fullaondo on December 18. On the 4th of February we have seen them take the road to prison between Pernando Barrena and Patxi Urrutia,
in the deliberation of the dismissal of the Patriotic Left, CAV-ANV and EHAK parties have been established outside the law.
The arrests of Gorka Lupiáñez, Igor Puerto and Mattin Sarasola have been more prevalent due to obvious signs of torture.
And the list, as Pérez Rubalcaba himself has said, is not over. More prisoners are coming.
As it has appeared in Macro Judgement 18/98, there is no legal guarantee for anyone. In the case of Sabino Ormazabal, it has been observed that even the opponents of the armed struggle have been punished as loyal servants of ETA.
It is enough that it now becomes a nuisance in the objectives of ETA, to be judged as a terrorist. The same thing happened with the newspaper. ETA’s support for the Basque language should not encourage us to become members of Miguel Sanz. Xabier Mendiguren reminded us at the Andoain meeting that we should not be ashamed of our concern for the Basque language.
When Iñaki Uría speaks on behalf of all the defendants, he turns the future very black: there are unpayable fines and long prison terms.
However, the 1978 Constitution reads:“The riqueza of the different linguistic modalities of Spain is a cultural heritage that is a special object of respect and protection” (Art. 3. 3).
How do these words and the treatment of the group of Otamendi get married? It was the only newspaper published in English.
The contradictions are evident. But the facts have the montage. It really seems that the mockery and hatred against Basque has been the cause. But we find the same atmosphere of contradiction in other fields.
What we have seen before the Court of Atotxa (II-22) speaks of itself. The case of the torturers of Igor Puerto, who began to beat and push the Borderlands against the 150 patriots present, was being studied. The Basque Warriors began to sing these and that's when the Basque Army attacked. Kafka couldn't have guessed a better fit.
The Basque Government, for its part, is very pleased to condemn the violence of ETA and GAL to the same degree. It
will be hard for us, as in this case, to put up barriers to ourselves. More clearly, moving in self-censorship.
As in the Franco era, to innovate in writing in parables and in half-words. The harsh port. And the reader, on the other hand, manages to round up messages between the lines.
For example: “All peoples have the right to self-determination. And the Basque Country too.” Who denies it? And the reader himself will have to complete the list; finding excuses and falsehoods about him.
When democracy is over, there is no other way.
We can learn in time!
