Ben Kuipers (The Netherlands, 1944) – author of many scripts for the television show Sesame Street, among others – has written for children from the age of five. You can see Nele painting at any time while Martin is watching her curiously. Sometimes green, sometimes red, the next time Nele uses black to color. When asked if he thinks what he has done is beautiful, Martin often doesn’t know what to say because he doesn’t understand what he has painted. Then Nel proudly explains to him the meaning of what he has done. Sometimes green will be the duvet that covers Nele in bed when she sleeps, but the next time it can also be grass.
