In the worst conditions, those who lost the 1936 War were forced to work in countless Franco’s factories and mines. How many roads and railways they didn’t make. The book Forced Works in the Franco Dictatorship, published by the Instituto Gerónimo de Uzáriz and Caminos de la Memoria, is a compilation of the studies that have been carried out on this work of slavery. The work revolves around similar forced labour in contemporary history; slavery in the Pyrenees since 1939; the work done by women prisoners; the situation of prisoners who were involved in the construction of railway infrastructures; the suffering of families; and, as an epilogue, the series Forced Labour in Collective Memory.
