Public education and training

There is something that does not work well in the Department of Education of the Government of Ibarretxe. If the current problems are not solved, this week and the next one will be very complicated in the non-university public education of the Basque Country. Since November there have been stagnations and mobilizations in non-university public education, and the only thing they claim is not salary, if there are more important issues in the demands, such as job stability for middle teachers, labor restriction for those over 55 years old, etc. In November there were three stops and this week they have a call for another four: Gipuzkoa, 15; Álava, 16; Bizkaia, 17 and the three territories, 24. The negotiating and mobilizing position of the CCOO union is different from that of the other unions (ELA, LAB, STE EILAS and UGT) and has called for a self-employment strike on the 24th. On the other hand, the workers of the canteens, the cleaners, the bus guards and the special education who work for the Department of Education have also made the call for strikes on May 18. They demand an improvement in working conditions and wages. The talks have been going on since December, but with no results. This situation, in two cases, has been left to rot. And now the consequences are coming: stops and stoppages with their impact on the students. A responsible attitude is necessary on all sides in order to reach a satisfactory consensus as soon as possible. The establishment of authority would be deplorable.
