The accident happened on Tuesday morning. Once on its heel, the CSN has launched an emergency response protocol “due to a fire lasting more than ten minutes”. The safety authority has stated that there is no risk of radioactive emissions even if the power supply to the plant is interrupted. “The emergency diesel generator has worked properly,” they add.

The state of emergency alert has been suspended for an hour and a half from the start of the fire.
