Sunday is 48 years since the Police killed Pedro María Martínez Ocio, Francisco Aznar Clemente, Romualdo Barroso Chaparro, José Castillo García and Welcome Pereda Moral and shot hundreds of citizens in a context of strike and struggle of months. Subsequently, in solidary mobilizations, the police killed Juan Gabriel Rodrigo in Basauri and Vicente Antón Ferrero in Tarragona.

On Monday morning LAB, ELA, ESK and STEILAS held a press conference to present the mobilization on Sunday. At 12:00 there will be an event in the monolith of Plaza 3 de Marzo, from which the demonstration will start at 12:30 under the slogan Yesterday and today in combat, towards a just future.

“We demand the struggle, then and now, and a just future for all people,” the unions explain. They praised the 1976 struggle and denounced the following denial: “A fraudulent transition that crushed and covered this struggle by denying the truth, justice and reparation to the victims and maintaining a political, social and economic system that guaranteed the exploitation of the working class. And the present comes from the situation then.” In the field of memory, it is commented that “once and for all” the organization has joined the last steps taken to create the Memory Space 3 of March (in the interview given to ARGIA Nerea Martínez, member of the association 3 of March, has criticized the attitude of the institutions).

When it comes to reducing the current situation, reference has been made to the growth of the tip of the right, to the development of capitalism, “disguised sometimes as green, but in any case wild”, or to the need for an eco-social transition. They recall that the feminist strike was recently widespread and that women had participated “fundamentally” in the 1976 strike movement. “Therefore, we appeal to continue striving to dignify and distribute care and achieve a public, community, universal, free, quality and co-responsible surveillance system.”

Recalling Palestine

The trade unions have made various political, economic and social demands, including that of demilitarization, “in a world that leads to conflict and war” and have made a special mention of Palestine: “We cannot forget the genocide of the Palestinian people. In view of this, we call on Israel to stop this genocide and to put an end to all the complicity with Israel’s strategy of war, occupation and genocide.”

Various initiatives and calls

The demonstration from Sunday to noon will be the main initiative to pay tribute to the 1976 struggle, but since every year more initiatives have been organized by various actors. Alavese copy receives:
