- Javier Solana, former NATO Secretary General, will participate in the Bilbao European Encounters 2016. San Sebastian 2016 Invited by the European Capital of Culture and the Instituto Globernance, the conference ‘Cosmopolitan Europe, democratizing the challenges of all’ will take place on November 8 at 19:00 in the Azkuna Zentroa.
"Several political scientists, jurists, philosophers, economists and scientists will examine the challenges that exist to make European integration a success," they say in the presentations of the conference.
In addition to Solana, on the 10th of October ‘Other Europe. National diversity and integration policy after Brexit. Visions of the Basque Country and Scotland’ will be delivered by Nicola McEwen and Joxerramon Bengoetxea, moderated by Africa Baeta. This has been organized jointly with the UPV.
25 October ‘Social Europe. The effects of the period of austerity on the economy and inequality’ will feature Miguel Maduro and Giorgos Papaconstantino.
On November 8, Javier Solana will be accompanied by Daniel Innerarity.
Conference organized by Donostia 2016
This is the second time that Solana has come to the Basque Country this year, together with the European Capitals of Culture Donostia 2016 and the Institute Globernance. The two agents also organized a speech by Durao Barroso in the capital of Gipuzkoa, provoking protests abroad.
