The risk of poverty in the Ribera navarra is 40% higher than in the north
  • The Government of Navarra has just published its seventh report on poverty and social inequality. Data are significant: The peoples of the Ribera have a higher risk of poverty, 40 per cent of the countries of the north 10 per cent. In 2021, €12,000 was raised annually among people in poverty. Thus, in Navarre there were 143,000 citizens in this situation, with monthly income equal to or less than 1,000 euros. Women account for 23%.

The Government of Navarre has analysed the poverty and inequality of Navarre through an annual report. This second report shows significant differences between the Navarre Bank and the northern peoples. "The fissure leaves Navarra in two parts, north and south. The poverty rate in the Aranguren Valley is 8.9%. Fitero, 44%," he said. In the Region of Pamplona are the ten municipalities with the lowest poverty rate: Aranguren, Galar, Cendea de Iza, Cizur, Steribar, Cendea de Olza, Zabraise, Bidaurreta, Etxarri and Ciriza. The poverty rate in these countries is 10%. On the other hand, the populations of the Ribera with the highest poverty rate: Fitero, Castejón, Carcar, Murillo Fruit, Sartagudo, Sesma, Corella, Cascante, Barillas and Tulebras. The poverty rate is around 40%.

In 2021, 12,000 euros were allocated to the population in poverty and considering that in Navarra there were 143,000 citizens in this situation, that is, with incomes equal to or less than 1,000 euros per month. Women are 23% in poverty.

More jobs are needed to pay pensions

Navarre would need 45,000 more workers to cover its pensions. In order to take responsibility for social security, "quality and long-term jobs" should be created in Navarra.
