On December 15, the EHE members took advantage of the anniversary to denounce the 30 years of the Vascuencea Law and the fact that it has been in force for many years. They chained themselves to the Parliament of Navarre with the banner that read “Open the doors to the official”.

The forensics identified them and released them, transmitting a report on the incident to the Delegate of the Government of Spain, Carmen Alba. He has decided to apply the Mozal Law and has imposed a fine of 900 euros.

The Basque speakers explained that through the action they wanted to proclaim that it is time to extend the Basque language to the whole of Navarre: “What seems most serious to us is that the law remains in force with a government that has a pro-Basque attitude,” they say. Considering that the activation of society is key, they have taken advantage of the 30th anniversary of the law to prolong the call for people to work and activate: “We are at the moment of lighting small fires, and examples are not few: neighbors who have asked for Basque doctors and pediatricians, parents who want a Basque children’s school or citizens who have asked for a Basque relationship with the administration.”
