This year’s Basque public school festival was held in Pamplona under the motto “School of the Good Living Neighbourhood”. The day begins with the “promulgating parade” that has ended in the Antonutti Park, and the party is started by the rocket fired by the families of the Lázaro school.

The Founding Party has been described by members of the association as a day to celebrate their work throughout the year. “It is a day that unites all those who want a different school model,” they say, “who want a school model that guarantees the educational rights that belong to us, both as individuals and as peoples.”

In neighborhoods and towns, in collaboration with agents and citizens, they have proclaimed a model that will generate multilingual students who will be Basque, who will understand diversity as wealth. They have emphasized the importance of emotions and creativity in the educational process, as well as the abandonment of the mere transmission of content and the importance of experiences.

They denounce the obstacles they receive in the direction of this school model. They underlined the importance of facing the “effects of the laws imposed by Madrid and imposed by the local administrations” and considered it essential to create initiatives and contents to achieve sovereignty. “It was created for this purpose and we will continue on this path: slowly, but without stopping and leaving a trace,” they proclaim.

After the party in the last few years in different towns of Pamplona, this year it has been brought back to Pamplona and the return has been a success. Although the traditional celebration took place in Takonera Park, the first celebration took place in the Antoniuti Park next to it, and many of the attendees emphasized the suitability of the place.
