Juan Carlos I.aren questions the exemplarity

The City Hall of Vitoria-Gasteiz has considered that the capital has "a large number of streets dedicated to people who represent the values and principles that take as an example to follow". In recent months, however, there have been reports of king emeritus Juan Carlos I who "question respect for these values and principles".

The municipal authorities have also recalled the statement of the Royal House of 15 March in which it was read. There, the current King Philip VI.ak, "with the aim of preserving the exemplarity of the Crown", rejected the inheritance that would correspond to his father Juan Carlos I.aren, as well as any assets, investments or financial structure whose origin, characteristics or destiny "do not conform to the legality or the criteria of law". "All these situations show that the exemplarity of Juan Carlos I.aren is in question, as has been repeatedly expressed by other institutions and judicial bodies," the City Council stressed, "a good city cannot and does not want to be alien to all this, nor does it want to be."

Therefore, the mayor has decided to change the name of Avenida Juan Carlos I "to preserve the values that people who have a street in the city must have", a decision he has transferred this morning to the Board of Spokespersons of the City Council.
