Journalism is not terrorism, it is the motto of La Directo. The journalist Jesús Rodríguez has been charged for "terrorism" in the case of the Democratic Tsunami opened by the judge of the National Court of Spain, Manuel García-Castellón. Dozens of media and institutions have already joined the communiqué, including ARGIA. The Direct has described the charge as “an attack on the right to information” and has encouraged defenders of “honest, critical and transformative journalism” to join the statement.

The judge has described as “terrorism” the social mobilizations carried out in the context of the Democratic Tsunami and considers that the twelve people investigated “would be part of the political coordination of the organization”. The media has made clear statements: “Jesus Rodríguez has not participated in criminal acts, he has only exercised fundamental rights. In the exercise of freedom of information it has always been limited to the exercise of its professional function, as it is a fundamental right that is being violated with the imputation”.

According to the media El Salto, this is not the first time that Rodríguez has suffered repression because of journalism: In 2016, in the midst of a demonstration, she was attacked by the Catalan police, which caused her injuries: besides breaking a finger, she lost 50% mobility.
