Kux-kuxa, marmite and tapioca on the same table: meals as a meeting point for coexistence

The Neighbors initiative has its fifth edition this year. Meals will be organized in different towns and cities of the Basque Country. Two families will meet for lunch, one Basque and one foreign. The aim is to promote mutual knowledge and overcome prejudices that can condition coexistence.

The Neighbors project aims to be a tool for social transformation. The organizers explain that it facilitates new knowledge and relationships, as well as accelerating a society with a pro-diversity attitude.

SOS is an initiative promoted by Racism that has been joined by associations from different towns and cities of the Basque Country. On 13 November, lunches will be organized in Barakaldo, Bidasoaldea Debagoiena in San Sebastian, Eibar, Ermua, Vitoria, Getxo, Hernani, Oarsoaldea, Ordizia, Pasaia, Tolosaldea, Usurbil, Zarautz and Zumaia.

In addition, the organization has organized the annual Gipuzkoa Solidario project in the Victoria Eugenia Theatre in San Sebastián. It will be on November 26th at 5:00 p.m. The neighborhood will be the meeting point for all the people who will participate in the initiative, and together with humor and theater, this year’s edition will focus on sport. In fact, the organizers explain that “the sports world has a great potential for integration.”
