The following points of the Basque Government’s Transition Plan: individual sport and small businesses
  • More details have been given on the Plan for the Transition to a New Normality being developed by the Basque Government. After the permission of the Spanish Government to take children out of the house, the Basque Government wants adults to be able to go out to do physical activity individually and open small shops on a staggered basis. They have also referred to the criteria for completing the course at the CAV educational centres.

The spokesman for the Basque Government, Josu Erkoreka, appeared before the media. The Transition Plan will be staggered and will always depend on the evolution of the pandemic, but the three conditions will remain in place in the coming months: physical distancing, the use of face masks (“for society as a whole to have access to face masks”) and measures of hand cleaning and hygiene of shared spaces.

In the transition phase, adults shall take into account, in the first place, the outputs enabling them to perform physical activity individually and for a certain period of time. There is also the gradual opening up of shops and small shops, and the increase in industrial and construction activity. “Right now it’s 30% of the activity.”

What content should be evaluated by the faculty?

The spokesperson has announced that this week will clarify what the end of the course will be in the educational centers of the CAV and that previously the Education Counselor, Cristina Uriarte, will contrast the plan with the educational community. The plan will address three aspects: the fundamental educational content; the criteria for the evaluation and implementation of tools for teachers; and the way to return to classrooms (these are incremental forecasts by age).

Free time

Finally, Erkoreka has pointed out that, although it is the area that will take the longest time to return to normal, it is already studying “deescalation for events that generate concentration of people and for leisure”. Together with Eudel, the forecasts for parties, events and other summer cultural activities will be analysed.
